Irvington Pre-K Newsletter
Hello, Pre-K families!
What an eventful week it has been! For the short amount of time that we were at school, we had plenty of fresh air, did a few fun crafts and talked about music too! Next week we will revisit letter Rr and our theme will center around a rather famous author, Theodor Geisel (aka Dr. Seuss)!
Thanks and Reminders
Thank you to Elise and her family for bringing the healthy fresh snacks this week! Next week Enzo and his family will be providing snack!
Tuesday was full of excitement due to the beautiful SNOW falling outside. After everyone signed in, friends got to work on birthday pages for Mila’s 5th birthday while she decorated her crown with fun stickers. Then we circled up for morning meeting and talked about our theme for the week, music! Then Teacher Emily showed everyone her guitar from home and we listened to the six different sounds made from each of the strings. After that we bundled up and went outside to play in the snow. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves outside, making snowballs, “snow-people” and of course, impressions of our bodies in the snow! When recess was over we came inside for lunch and rest time. Then when rest time was over, families were already arriving to pick up early due to the snow!
Wednesday Snow day!
Thursday was another wacky day, as we had a late arrival! Once everyone had some time to enjoy the morning choices, we circled up and talked more about music and had the chance to see another cool instrument called a Kalimba. Much like the guitar, we counted how many notes there were and listened to each of them to hear the differences. Then we clothed ourselves properly to go play in the snow again. The Pre-K class are all experts now at making snow-people! There was hardly any snow left on the playground after they got done rolling giant snowballs! Later in the afternoon when we got up from rest time, we rocked out on the carpet with our egg shakers and then enjoyed a nice leisurely free choice as our day came to a close.
Friday was our only full day of school the whole week! We began the morning crafting with fuse beads, making and decorating musical “shakers” with plates, rice and beans and finishing birthday pages from Mila’s special day on Tuesday. Then during our morning meeting we talked some more about music and played a perfect game to go with our theme of the week, “Rhythm Detective!” In the afternoon we had a blast on the carpet with Music and Movement as it was “You-choose-Friday!” Naturally, “You’re Welcome” (from Moana) was selected! We finished our short week with some free choice and then a nice crisp recess!
Have a great weekend!
