Galaxy room Week in Review
June 3-7, 2019
Notes and Reminders
- Thanks to Fletcher Bailey’s family for the delicious snack this week!
- If your student will not be attending the last day of school on Wednesday, June 12th, please let us know.
Monday: We kicked off our last full week of pre-k with a fun unit on summer! We read Now It Is Summer by Eileen Spinelli and we discussed our summer plans. We talked briefly about the season of summer and when it is officially summer. For our project we created a Summer Bucket List with things we want to do, places we want to visit, and people we want to see this summer!
Tuesday: We continued talking about summer and summer time activities. We also read Froggy Learns to Swim by Jonathan London. We enjoyed sharing their summer plans with our
small groups. In the morning, Ms. Nina visited our classroom. We enjoyed hearing her read to us for the last time, and we gave her a card with a special picture from each student! Ms. Nina encourages everyone to join in the fun of Summer Reading at the Multnomah County Library.
Wednesday: We got to take part in the annual Irvington Jellybean Field Day. Students had a great time with each of the stations and we all enjoyed spending our choice time outside. We also earned jelly beans, which students took home to eat. We continued to make thank you cards for Mike, the custodian, who is retiring this year. We discussed the Rose Parade and a few students left early for the parade.
Thursday: We made cards for our reading buddies who we will see in their classroom on Friday for their Animal Study Showcase. We enjoyed some fun inside games with Teacher Mike, since the gym was being used for 5th Grade Promotion. In the afternoon, students got to look through their memory books and were excited to share them with their families. We hope you appreciate all the growth that your child has made over the school year. They are amazing!
Friday: We visited our reading buddies in the morning and learned some new things about the different animals they studied. We also gave them the special cards we made for them yesterday! In the afternoon, we drew pictures and wrote messages on the birthday crowns for Anouk and Fletcher Bailey to celebrate their summer birthdays. Before snack, we visited the library and each student got their own book from the Irvington Reads book give-away. We also said goodbye to a few of our friends who will not be here next week! Thanks for another great week!
Gym Time with Teacher Mike:
I want to use my final blurb to say that I really appreciated spending time in Pre-K with your children this year. We played, we danced, we ran, we jumped and had lots of fun. Also, all of your end of the year gifts were amazing and more than I could ever hope for. I wish all of you a great summer and hopefully we run into each other at school or around Portland sometime. Stay cool this summer!
