Summer camp at IED is relaxed and fun, with plenty of time for outside play. Our camp will present an awesome new theme each 2 week session that we explore with activities & games from all over the globe. In addition, children will have time to play in the gym, garden, learn new sports, and make cool art.
Activities are designed for school aged children grades K (current) -4th (current). Healthy snacks will be offered two times a day. Children are enrolled on a WEEKLY basis. Registrations will be taken on a space available basis.
SESSION 1. LEGOS IN SPACE! June 14-18 & June 21- 25 Two weeks of fun for Lego & Space fans!! You will be developing your brick designing techniques, learning how to make strong bridges, spaceships, zip lines and aliens from Legos. We will play wacky cosmos themed games like find the alien and have moonwalk relays across the field. We also will create some out of this world art projects like splatter socks, bead garden art, glowing paintings, cosmic flags, and Shrinky-dink charm bracelets.
**SESSION 2. THE NIGHT FOREST June 28-July 2 & July 6-9 What goes bump in the night? Well owls of course! And wolves, moths, opossums and skunks. This session we will create some beautiful art around nocturnal animals using paper, clay and fabric. We will also learn interesting facts about out moonlight loving animal friends. On the field we will play games like skunk ball, wolf pack run and echo tag. Part of our theme this session will also focus on book lovers! This week, campers will work on spectacular crafts inspired by the literary works of JaNay Brown-Wood, Adam Rubin, Grace Lin and more. Projects will include making textured paper trees, watercolor cities and polka dot people. Come howl with us! **Closed July 5th
SESSION 3. FANTASY ADVENTURES/RPG JULY 12-16 & July 19-23 Magical beasts take over Irvington this session! Our enchanted sunny summer days will find us outside playing games like dragon tag and unicorn relay with coach Mike. Later, we will be crafting awesome projects like monster eyes, puppets, and magical banners. We also will be learning and playing some basics (or more advanced games) of Dungeons & Dragons. This session will be combined with our potions, slimes and plant mixing, and all-around silliness in the classroom! Campers can choose from our buffet of additives, with things like googly eyes, beads, glitter, shaving cream and rainbow colors. We’ll make bubbles, kinetic sand, oobleck and colorful fragrant potions with liquid watercolors, flowers and spices.
SESSION 4. STUCK ON SPORTS JULY 26-30 & AUG 2-6 SESSION 4 will focus on 2 great activities: creating awesome projects out of various kinds of “sticky things” and the summer Olympics. On field we will be learning about classic Olympic games through obstacle courses, races, jumping, dribbling etc. All Campers will play games with friendly competition! For art this session we use all things gluey. Masking tape paintings, Washi (paper) tape animals, dot popsicles and glue dough that air dries. We will try our hand at various duct tape crafts as well.
